Hypnotherapy is the fastest route to effecting positive life changes compared to other forms of therapy (e.g. psychoanalysis, behavioral therapy, etc ….). It is a process that involves inducing a very relaxed physical and mental state more like guided day-dreaming or meditation. In such a state you communicate better with your unconscious mind (i.e. your autopilot) which controls much of your behavior, emotions, and thought processes. The underlying causes for problematic behavior can be discovered and resolved during hypnosis if you are willing. Furthermore, the process capitalizes on the use of empowering positive suggestions. These are more readily accepted during trance (i.e. the relaxed state) and become your new driving force. The powerful pleasant effects of hypnotherapy can deal with: Phobias, Pain management, Increasing wellness, Anxiety, Alcohol abuse, Public speaking performance, Insomnia, Stress management, Ease in social situations, Smoking cessation, Shyness, Positive thinking, Weight management, Low self-esteem, Goal setting Achievement, Academic improvement, Resolving past traumas, Past life regression to explore the hidden drivers of many current life incidents, and many more …
Is hypnosis really safe?
Yes, hypnosis is a normal state that you go in and out of everyday without noticing. After a session, many wonder whether they were in fact hypnotized, as the induced state resembles so much normal experiences.
Do I end-up sharing my deepest secrets?
No, you won’t say anything you’d rather remain private; and you can openly express your reluctance to share your secrets. It helps more, though, if you verbalize your thoughts out, as this will enable better your hypnotherapist to guide you resolve your issues. In any case, confidentiality of your private life is ensured.
What if I am the type who cannot be hypnotized (i.e. I’m un-suggestible)?
Everyone can be hypnotized. We are in trance at least twice a day: when we wake up in the morning and as we fall asleep. It is your choice to willingly collaborate with your hypnotherapist or not; go deeper or not; cooperate to solve what’s bothering you or decide to forfeit the highway to effecting positive change.
What if my hypnotherapist suggests that I do things I don’t approve of (e.g. robbing a bank)
Always check the credentials of your hypnotherapist who abides by the code of ethics. You will never do anything that violates your values or find objectionable in normal circumstances. This idea is based on Hollywood movies that used such scenarios to jazz up its stories; and many charlatans who have intruded on the profession.
Would I be completely under the control of the hypnotherapist?
No, you won’t. The degree of control over you is only that which you allow. Your conscious mind will keep track of all details constantly while you do the change work necessary. Your hypnotherapist will merely suggest imagery and thoughts that instill in you a new way of being (one that you choose). You remain at all times in charge of accepting the suggestions or not.
Will I forget what went on during the session?
Certainly not; unless it’s a therapeutically induced amnesia to forget a past trauma. The empowering suggestions by your hypnotherapist will linger. These are repeated often enough to be remembered. You will recall, just like any other experience, all the details about the session as soon as you’re out of trance.
Would I sleep during hypnosis?
Hypnosis refers to a state akin to "sleeping” during which you experience utmost relaxation and calmness. It differs from sleeping because your senses remain alert all the time (unless we’re using hypnosis to substitute for anesthesia). Some hypnotists use the term "Sleep” to induce hypnosis; I personally prefer to use the term "Relax” to eliminate this confusion.
What if I don’t wake up?
Since you won’t be sleeping, hypnosis is not a state to wake up from. You can always return from trance willingly any time. When the session is over, you will always feel more refreshed, invigorated, and more empowered. If for any reason you do doze off because you’re too tired, you will be easily awakened when you hear me saying: "I will be charging you extra for over-using my relaxing chair”
